This is a notebook, not a blog. I run one small virtual server for personal things — a few static pages, backups of my own files, the odd experiment — and every few months I have to remember how some part of it works. These notes are the answers I wish I had written down the first time.

Everything here is tested on Ubuntu LTS on a 1 GB machine. Commands are shown as I actually ran them; where I got something wrong the first time, the note says so.

Conventions

• Commands that need root are shown with sudo.
• Paths, hostnames and ports are the ones from my setup — replace them with yours.
• No JavaScript, no analytics, no cookies. The page you see is the whole page.

There is no contact form. If you found something useful, that is already the best outcome.
